WICHITA AREA PERMITS YEAR-TO-DATE:   Based on the data collected by the Wichita Area Builders Association (WABA), Wichita single-family residential building permits fell to 45 units in September, from 47 units in August.   On a year-over-year (Y/Y) basis, permits fell from 89 to 45, which represented a 49.43% decrease.

CITY OF WICHITA YEAR-TO-DATE:   As of September, Wichita had permits issued for 544 units (year-to-date), which is a 39.59% decrease from the 858 permits that were issued during the same period in 2008.  

SURROUNDING MARKETS YEAR-TO-DATE:   For the 16 surrounding communities for which WABA has been collecting data for at least a year, results were mostly negative.  Andover, Augusta, El Dorado, Garden Plain, Goddard, Haysville, Bel Aire, Derby, Kechi, Mulvane, Newton, Park City, Valley Center ,Wellington and Rose Hill had decreases in the number of building permits issued, while Maize was the only city which saw an increase.
