WICHITA AREA PERMITS YEAR-TO-DATE:   Based on the data collected by the Wichita Area Builders Association (WABA), Wichita single-family residential building permits rose to 56 units in October, from 45 units in September.   On a year-over-year (Y/Y) basis, permits decreased from 85 to 56, which represented a 34.11% decline.

CITY OF WICHITA YEAR-TO-DATE:   As of October, Wichita had permits issued for 600 units (year-to-date), which is a 36.37% decrease from the 943 permits that were issued during the same period in 2008.  

SURROUNDING MARKETS YEAR-TO-DATE:   For the 16 surrounding communities for which WABA has been collecting data for atleast a year,most results were positive.  Andover, Garden Plain, Derby, Mulvane, Newton, Park City, Valley Center ,Wellington and Rose Hill had increases in the number of building permits issued.   Augusta, El Dorado, Bel Aire, Maize saw a decrease and Goddard, Haysville, Kechi, Rose Hill had no change to the number of permits issued.
